The Moments We Leave Behind is a capstone series that documents human connection and loneliness. These photographs focus on fleeting moments of connection among strangers and loved ones, as well as empty spaces where interaction could take place. Within our routines, falling into habit is a given, as are overlooking everyday details and taking moments we love for granted. Could this disconnection be repaired by a simple interaction with a stranger or a moment of appreciation towards a loved one? What might it mean to be without this connection, and do these moments, in total, build who we are? By photographing locations that hold a sense of loneliness as well as a possibility of human connection, I am investigating what can be seen and what cannot. By displaying these vulnerable moments, I aim to inspire an appreciation for day-to-day life and evoke the impact of connection.
